Athenry in Galway and Kanturk in Cork stores opened as part of €18m investment.
ALDI this week opened two new stores in Athenry and Kanturk that between them created 60 permanent jobs.
Not only that but 160 jobs were supported during the construction phases of both stores.
“To date, more than €535,000 has been donated to more than 1,000 local charity branches across Ireland”
These stores represent ALDI’s 159th and 160th stores in Ireland. This will bring the total number of stores opened across Ireland this year to five.
Nationwide expansion
In 2022, ALDI reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its Irish operations, announcing two ambitious expansion plans for the west of Ireland and Dublin.
These plans will see 16 new stores across Connaught and the capital by 2027 as part of a €135m investment, creating 490 permanent jobs with a further 900 supported during construction.
These new stores also follow ALDI’s award winning Project Fresh layout. This design offers a wide selection of fresh food at the front of the store, hi-spec fixtures and fittings throughout the store and new product category signage that provides an effortless shopping experience.
The customer-focused layout allows for the products customers know and love to be found more easily, whilst browsing new ranges.
Community Support
As an integral part of the communities in which they operate, ALDI’s Athenry and Kanturk stores will be part of ALDI’s national Community Grant network.
Through this network, bursary grants will be awarded to worthy causes in the local community, selected by the ALDI store teams.
To date, more than €535,000 has been donated to more than 1,000 local charity branches across Ireland. ALDI has also raised almost €1.4m for Barnardos, having partnered with them since November 2020.
