Irish tech firm Cubic Telecom is going off-road to help farmers drive the smart farms of the future using the internet of things starting with smart, connected tractors.
Dublin-based tech company Cubic Telecom has forged a connected tractor alliance with CNH Industrial, whose agricultural brands include Case IH, New Holland Agriculture and Steyr.
Cubic’s platform powers the digital connectivity of brands that include Audi, Panasonic, Volkswagen, Woolworths, e.GO and Skoda and customers also include some of the world’s leading Fortune 100 computer manufacturers.
“It was time to go off-road and timing was perfect as CNH Industrial sought a global real-time connectivity platform to manage their next fleet of agricultural vehicles”
In what is its first ‘off-road’ alliance Cubic’s PACE platform will be deployed across tractor, harvester and crop protection models, with possible further future expansion. The partnership will be operational in Europe, Brazil, North America and the Asia-Pacific markets for selected models released from 2020.
Cubic Telecom’s PACE platform enables worldwide connections to LTE and 5G, so that CNH Industrial’s brands’ customers can keep remotely collecting and managing data on their terrain and machines to maximize productivity and crop yield all around the world.
A new off-road adventure
With thousands of the company’s vehicles set to be connected from 2020, this collaboration brings Cubic off-road and marks its first delve into the agricultural IoT ecosystem.
Later in the year, Cubic Telecom will be extending its connectivity solution offering within the CNH Industrial brand portfolio, to cover both IVECO commercial vehicles as well as CASE and New Holland Construction.
“It was time to go off-road and timing was perfect as CNH Industrial sought a global real-time connectivity platform to manage their next fleet of agricultural vehicles” said Barry Napier, CEO and executive chair at Cubic Telecom.
“This further validates Cubic Telecom’s commitment to expand into new verticals and deliver on our sustainability focus by using data analytics to reduce the overall environmental impact of our customers’ end product. CNH Industrial is a global leader in the agricultural sector and this partnership marks a significant milestone for Cubic Telecom.”
