Ireland’s population of angel investors is on the rise with 290 new members joining the Halo Business Angel Network.
More than €25m was invested in Irish start-ups by angel investors between April 2023 and December 2024, according to new data from Halo Business Angel Network (HBAN).
The investments spanned 82 companies in the areas of software-as-a-service (SaaS), fintech, e-commerce, agtech, greentech and sportstech.

34% of the companies that received investment in this period were led or co-led by women, highlighting the networks championing of diversity.
Deal flow on the wings of angels
Businesses that landed investments included Squid Loyalty, GreyScout, Vertigenius, SimpleStudy, TeamFeePay, WiiStream, Precision Sports, Needi and Frontier Academy.
During this time, the HBAN Medtech Syndicate deployed €14.9m capital into portfolio companies such as CroiValve, OncoAssure and Gasgon Medical, while also adding new companies such as Neurobell, X-Bolt, Endowave.

Adding a deeper layer to its network, HBAN facilitated the launch of ‘Tech Operators’, a collective of over 30 leaders from multinational companies such as Stripe, Facebook, Salesforce, and Google who invest in, advise and connect ambitious founders.
Over 290 new angel investors have joined HBAN’s network since April 2023, demonstrating the growing interest for supporting innovative startups across the Island of Ireland.
“Working with HBAN was a pleasure; the team was incredibly supportive and responsive at all stages, and their investment has been instrumental in advancing our mission,” commented Dr Dara Meldru, founder of Vertigenius, a Cork-based digital therapy company which raised €2.1m with significant participation from HBAN investors.
