From fem tech to pet tech and artificial intelligence (AI), entrepreneurs innovating in some of the new trending areas of technology are being urged to via for start-up packages valued at €20,000.
The UCC-based IGNITE incubator, which turns recent graduates into world class founders, has highlighted the areas of opportunities in which entrepreneurs can create impactful solutions.

Applications for IGNITE’s April 2025 programme are now open, and the incubator welcomes start-ups working in these exciting fields:
- Misinformation/Disinformation: Tackling the spread of false information in the digital age, addressing societal and political challenges.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI): Unlocking the potential of AI to deliver innovative solutions across industries.
- FemTech: Advancing women’s health and wellness through technology.
- Slow Tech: Designing sustainable and mindful technologies.
- Pet: Revolutionising pet care and well-being with technological innovation.
- “Reclaiming My Time” Tech: Creating tools that empower individuals to manage time and priorities in a fast-paced world.
- Housing Tech/Construction Tech: Addressing housing challenges with innovative approaches to construction and housing solutions.
- EdTech: Transforming education with technologies that enhance learning experiences for students and educators.
Opportunities to thrive
IGNITE director Eamon Curtin (pictured) said the incubator welcomes applications from graduates with innovative ideas in these areas and will provide the resources and support needed to turn ideas into successful businesses.
Participants can benefit from a support package worth €20,000 that includes €5,000 in seed funding, access to tailored training and mentoring, networking opportunities with guest speakers and IGNITE’s equity-free model ensures founders retain full ownership of their businesses.
Successful previous start-up founders who started on IGNITE include William Nolan of AddAptiv, Dr Sinead Bleiel of AnaBio Technologies Ltd, Ryan O’Neill and Ian O’Sullivan of LegitFit, Dr Mark O’Sullivan of Neurobell, Clare Meskill of Telea, Conor Lyden of TrustAp and Shannen O’Reilly of TrustDish.
“We’re excited to welcome applications for our April 2025 programme,” Curtin said. “Areas like AI, FemTech, and EdTech offer incredible opportunities for innovation, and IGNITE and the UCC research and support infrastructure are here to support entrepreneurs driving change in these fields. Our start-ups share a space with world-renowned research centres and can tap into a strong tech, pharma, and food industry hinterland surrounding the campus.
