Irish toy firm HoloToyz to bring Barbie to life

Meath business HoloToyz has landed a major partnership with toy giant Mattel to bring Barbie and Hot Wheels to life through augmented reality.

Global toy maker Mattel has forged a partnership with Irish toy tech business HoloToyz.

HoloToyz is an award-winning augmented reality toy company founded by husband-and-wife duo Kate Scott and Declan Fahy from Co Meath.

“Bringing Barbie and Hot Wheels to life through AR is a dream come true for us, and we can’t wait for kids to experience the magic of our technology”

The partnership will bring iconic brands like Barbie and Hot Wheels to life through augmented reality (AR).

This collaboration marks a major milestone for HoloToyz, following the success of the Barbie movie and Mattel’s continued innovation in the toy industry.

Time to play in the AR age

This exciting news comes following the Spielwarenmesse toy fair in Nuremberg, where Mattel was also celebrating its 80th anniversary.

In a world-first, HoloToyz will launch an AR Fashion Dress-Up Barbie Set, allowing kids to dress Barbie in a selection of magnetic outfits and watch the doll come to life in 3D animation, wearing the exact outfit they chose.

With a simple tap, children can place a fully animated Barbie in their room, interact and even take photos and videos beside her — bridging the gap between physical and digital play like never before.

The Barbie range will also include a 4-in-1 AR jigsaw puzzle, as well as a collection of temporary tattoos and stickers, all of which spring to life through HoloToyz’ AR technology.

HoloToyz is also to bring Hot Wheels—the world’s biggest selling toy brand — into the AR revolution.

The Hot Wheels AR range will feature magnetic cubes, jigsaw puzzles, tattoos, and stickers, all designed to immerse kids in a high-speed, interactive adventure.

“We are so proud to collaborate with Mattel on such an iconic project,” said Kate Scott, CEO and founder of HoloToyz.

“Bringing Barbie and Hot Wheels to life through AR is a dream come true for us, and we can’t wait for kids to experience the magic of our technology.”

As part of HoloToyz’ commitment to sustainability, eco-friendly materials will be used across the product range, ensuring innovation is met with responsibility.
