Shomera gives itself room to grow

Brothers David and Stephen O’Reilly have set Shomera up for future growth after recently completing a successful MBO with support from Bank of Ireland.

Shomera, a leading provider of house extensions and garden rooms, last year marked 25 years in business.

The timing of the anniversary coincided with a management buyout led by brothers David and Stephen O’Reilly in what they describe as a natural progression for the business.

“The significance of this MBO lies in the fact that both Stephen and I, for over a decade, had already overseen and expanded business operations within Shomera”

Since the MBO Shomera has seen growth in both staff numbers and its customer base with the O’Reilly brothers at the helm.

Building for tomorrow

The brothers – who have a combined 33 years of experience with the business – have played a key role in the development of the Shomera team, company resources and the introduction of new and innovative revenue streams.

This proven track record, commitment, and significant contributions clearly positioned them as the natural candidates to lead and steer the company into its next phase of growth and success.

David O’Reilly said that the MBO represented a strategic decision that has successfully enabled the business to further enhance its position within the house extensions and garden rooms market and reinforce its commitment to delivering exceptional product, service, and value to its customers.

“The significance of this MBO lies in the fact that both Stephen and I, for over a decade, had already overseen and expanded business operations within Shomera,” he explained.

“This MBO resulted in a very natural, seamless and logical progression for both of us, as well as for the overall business. We believe our roles within the company well positioned us to continue to lead our talented team and steer Shomera’s future growth and success. We have already commenced exploring new business directions and are dedicated to driving innovation, bringing Shomera to a new level.”

He added: “In all of our interactions with Bank of Ireland, communications were clear and straightforward. We very much appreciate their guidance and assistance throughout the process.”

“It was very rewarding, working with David and Stephen on their MBO,” said Gerry Nolan, Business Relationship Manager with Bank of Ireland’s Business Banking Origination Team.

“David and Stephen have been part of the fabric of Shomera for decades, and this transaction further establishes the brothers’ ability to manage a forward-thinking, evolving business such as Shomera. I wish them continued success.”
