A very Slick+ Galway and Sligo business raises €500k

12 new jobs as Galway and Sligo start-up’s knowledge-sharing platform unlocks employee know-how.

Software start-up Slick+ has raised €500,000 in funding from Enterprise Ireland and Growing Capital.

€150,000 of the funding came from Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start-up (HPSU) programme and is match funded by Growing Capital. An additional €200,000 will be unlocked based on performance.

“In today’s hybrid work environment, ensuring that organisational knowledge is accessible and engaging is more crucial than ever”

The funding marks a crucial step for Slick+ as it addresses the challenge of capturing, curating, and sharing organisation-specific knowledge in the hybrid world of work.

It will enable the creation of 12 new jobs over the next 12 months, primarily in product development, marketing, partnerships and customer success roles.

“Innovation is crucial for Irish start-ups to grow and scale both here and on an international level,” said Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Peter Burke, TD.

“The success of Slick+ centres on their ability to listen to the needs of the market and provide an innovative product offering which will help companies share organisation-specific knowledge in this new era of hybrid working. High Potential Start-up companies like Slick+ are vital components of a robust economy and the investment secured is a testament to the dedication of the Slick+ team.

Bringing clarity to the hybrid world of work

Founded in October 2023 and co-located between Sligo and Galway, Slick+ has developed a groundbreaking short-form, video-based social learning solution that brings a consumer-grade experience to the world of work.

Currently working with more than twenty corporate clients, the platform is the result of more than 12 months of research and development, working closely with universities, companies and end-users.

“This investment from Enterprise Ireland is a testament to the potential of our innovative solution to knowledge sharing and to the dozens of organizations we support and partner with,” said CXO and co-founder Linda Hegarty.

“In today’s hybrid work environment, ensuring that organisational knowledge is accessible and engaging is more crucial than ever, particularly for onboarding (and retaining) new hires and mentoring virtual teams. With this funding, we’re poised to expand our team and accelerate our product development, bringing our solution to more businesses across Ireland, the UK and beyond.”

Slick+ redefines onboarding and mentoring so that it is fully adapted to the new world of remote and hybrid work. It makes collective learning simple and social, helping to foster the team bonds and connections that can be missing in the modern world of work.

The platform is particularly suited to knowledge-based organizations committed to the hybrid model, whose internal know-how is very specific to their context and whose managers need support to lead and motivate teams.

“Enterprise Ireland supports innovative start-up’s that offer solutions to global problems,” said Donnchadh Cullinan, Department Manager, ICT HPSU, Enterprise Ireland.

“Slick+ novel and innovative easy-to-use solution provides an effective approach to tackling the challenges of knowledge management in the modern workplace. Enterprise Ireland congratulates the team at Slick Plus on its recent investment raise in which EI is participating.

“Enterprise Ireland is proud to have provided this support and looks forward to continuing to work with Slick Plus as it executes and internationalises. Today’s announcement will further allow Slick Plus to grow and compete and bring its platform to the next level.”
