Acquisition positions Viatel as a strong local player in Irish cloud ecosystem.
Scaling Irish tech player Viatel has acquired Sungard Availability Services (Ireland) Ltd for an undisclosed sum.
This transaction uniquely positions Viatel as one of the most comprehensive cloud, connectivity, cybersecurity and digital transformation solutions provider in the Irish market, alongside a growing footprint of international customers.

Viatel recently announced the creation of 50 new jobs as the group significantly expands its cybersecurity portfolio.
The addition of Sungard AS’ substantial multinational customer base, cloud capability and data centre facilities in Park West and Profile Park further expands the company’s footprint in existing and adjacent markets.
Reach for the clouds

This is the eighth acquisition by Viatel since 2020. During that period, strategic acquisitions and internally developed capabilities have transformed the well-established enterprise connectivity company into a leading-edge digital technology partner empowering over 4,000 Irish and multinational customers. Following this most recent acquisition, Viatel expects annual revenues to exceed €90 million, with over 310 employees.
Patrick Morley, who leads the operations for Sungard AS EMEA, will support the transaction to enable a successful transition and continuity of services to existing Sungard AS customers.
